The most popular and well-known destination on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Marbella is famous for its 300-plus days of sunshine per year and its miles of beautiful sandy beaches. The area has been a popular tourist destination since the early 1950s and is still known as a “playground for the rich”, given its popularity with international “jet-setters” and celebrities alike.

Things to do in Marbella

Marbella is a vibrant and multicultural city, shaped by a large international community while still preserving its strong Andalusian identity. Marbella has excellent infrastructure and is well connected via Malaga Airport, with flights to more than 120 international destinations, and Gibraltar Airport. An extensive network of motorways, buses, and high-speed rail connections from Malaga provide easy access to the rest of Spain.

European Union citizens can access medical care in Marbella using the European Health Insurance Card, receiving treatment under the same conditions as residents. By becoming a resident or contributing to Spanish social security, you gain access to free public healthcare. Spain also has affordable private health insurance and a highly reputable public and private healthcare system, with numerous clinics and hospitals in Marbella and the surrounding area.

Spain has one of the best education systems in Europe, and Marbella offers numerous public and private options. Several international schools stand out, where teaching is mainly in English, such as Swans School International and English International College.
