The construction will involve strengthening infrastructure along the coastline that have been weakened by this winters diverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>According to the committees head council, Manuel Carde\u00f1a, the construction work will take place during the month of May in order for the regions beaches to be restored to perfect conditions in time for the summer season from June onwards.<\/p>\n<p>The first part of the work will consist of cleaning up the beaches from El Cable to Las Chapas, an area which was especially affected by the rain and winds that swept through the Spanish region in January and February.<\/p>\n<p>Focus will be on strengthening jetties and footbridges as well as the levelling out of some uneven beaches that were most ravished by storms this winter.<\/p>\n<p>70,000 cubic metres of sand is expected to be designated in Marbella alone to complete the works, and a further 30,000 cubic metres in Estepona. The work is expected to cost a total of 2,550,000 euros; 710,000 for beaches between Marbella and Mijas and the remaining 440,000 euros for areas in San Pedro, Alcantara, Manilva, Estepona and Casares.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Spanish Ministry of the Environment released the necessary machinery this week in Marbella to commence emergency construction work on the coasts beaches.
